But before going into introversion, let’s talk about the party people.

Are You an Extrovert? Here’s How to Tell

There are a lot of people who are called “party people.” People are drawn to them because they are outgoing and lively. For them, it’s difficult to avoid the spotlight. In addition, they love having fun with each other. If you like all this, it’s 99% proven that you are an extrovert.

On the other hand, there are introverts. These people are usually said to be quieter. They may do many things with other people, but they need time alone to recharge their energy.

Now let’s continue to read more about introverts, introversion, signs and traits, types of introverts, and even explore some myths about introverts.

What is an Introvert?

A person who doesn’t like to talk to people. If you have traits of a personality type called introversion, you’re more likely to focus on your thoughts and ideas rather than what’s going on outside of you. Their favorite way to spend time is with one or two people, not many people or groups.

Many people think of introverts as shy or quiet and like to be alone. That may be true for some introverts, but there’s a lot more to this type of person. An introvert or extrovert is a lot about how you process the world around you, so it all comes down to that.

There were two types of people called introverts and extroverts (sometimes called extraverts) in the 1920s. Then, a psychologist named Carl Jung started using the terms. These two personality types divide people into groups based on how they get or spend their energy. Interns use their minds to get charged, while extroverts look for people to help them get charged up.

Signs you might be an introvert.

Most people in the United States are introverts, which means they like to be alone a lot. Though it looks different for everyone, introverts have many same habits. In general, people who are introverts:

  • Need to be alone to work.
  • They are self-aware and think about what they want.
  • They don’t like group work and prefer writing rather than talking.
  • The crowd makes you tired.
  • Have very few friends but are very close to these friends.
  • Dream or use their imagination to think of ways to solve a problem
  • They go into their head to get some rest.

Let me explain:

Need to be alone to work.

They are self-aware and think about what they want. They don’t like group work and prefer to write rather than talk.

The crowd makes you tired.

Have very few friends but are very close to these friends. Dream or use their imagination to think of ways to solve a problem. Then, they go into their head to get some rest.

Some things that make you more introverted.

If there is a reason why someone is a little more introverted or a little more outgoing, scientists don’t know for sure. However, they know some information about how the brains of the two types of people work. Introverts have more blood flow to their frontal lobe than extroverts do. Part of your brain helps you remember things and solve problems. It also helps you plan for the future.

Introvert brains also react to dopamine differently than extrovert brains do. In your brain, that’s a chemical that turns on the reward and pleasure parts. They both have a lot of the same chemicals in their bodies, but extroverts have a reward center that gives them an exciting buzz. On the other hand, introverts tend to get tired of it and not want to keep going.

People who like to be alone can be classified into different types.

Some people are quieter than others. Some other people are right in the middle of the range. There are many ways to be an introvert, and many of them are very different.

In one study, it was found that introverts tend to fall into one of four different types:

Social Introverts

Introverts who like to be alone in groups of people This is the type of introvert that most people think of when they think of an introvert. They prefer small groups and quiet places over crowds.

Thinking introverts

People in this group like to think about other things. In their minds, they spend a lot of time and have a lot of creative ideas and ideas.

Anxious introverts

Stressed-out introverts seek out alone time not just because they like it but also because they often feel awkward or shy around people.

Restrained/inhibited introverts.

These introverts think before they act. They aren’t likely to decide on the spur of the moment, but they might. Typically they take longer to take action.

Are introversion and shyness connected?

Shyness and introversion are not synonymous, despite popular belief. Unlike shyness, introversion is a personality trait.

Shy people tend to feel awkward or uncomfortable when social situations, especially around strangers. They might be so scared that they start to sweat. Then, as their heart races and they get a stomachache, they may not feel very well. To avoid going to parties and other events, they may not want to go because they don’t like the negative feelings over their thoughts and bodies when forced to go.

Even if you’re introverted, you might not want to go to many social events. It’s because you’re more excited to do things alone or with just a few other people. On the other hand, introverts don’t stay away from social events because they don’t like large groups of people the way shy people do. Instead, they prefer to be alone or in small groups.

There are some myths about introverts that you should be aware of:

An introvert myth is that they are shy. If you’re shy, you might be an introvert, but this isn’t the case for everyone shy. Other myths, such as:

Introverts don’t want to talk.

Being an introvert doesn’t make you any less friendly than someone who isn’t one at all. If you don’t have many friends, you might think introverts aren’t very friendly. They may also prefer to think about things alone rather than join in on conversations at parties.

Introverts can’t lead.

People may think of a person who is outgoing when they think of a leader, but introverts can be bosses and leaders, too. Some of their strengths make them good leaders:

  • They listen to their employees’ ideas.
  • Introverts can stay focused on long-term goals.
  • They may seem less intimidating, making people more likely to accept them in their roles.

When you’re shy, it’s hard to get to know other people.

Introverts should have close relationships with fewer people than many people. Their friends and family know them very well and have real friendships, even if they don’t talk to everyone.

5 Interesting Facts About Introverts, Backed by Research

Many people chock all the stuff about extroversion and introversion up to a bunch of pseudo-sciences. I don’t think that’s fair because extroversion and introversion are real things that happen. Everyone has it.

We can’t connect with people in the same way we used to. We’ve lost the ability to communicate with others the way we used to conduct ourselves, our demeanor. Or how we feel about various positions or jobs that we’ve had.

It has a significant impact on our interpersonal interactions and the types of people with whom we are most likely to have fruitful connections.

Hopefully, facts about introverts & introversion help you better understand this type of person, so here are the facts.

You don’t have to be an introvert because you get tired after socializing.

But, unfortunately, there’s a common myth that you probably believe as well.

Even if you had a good time at the party, you might be tired and need to rest afterward. This means you are an introvert, even if you had a good time.

This isn’t true.

A new study says you need time to recharge if you have social interaction. As soon as you put yourself in a social situation, you consciously engage all parts of yourself.

It’s like going to the gym. After you work out, you feel tired or sore and need to rest and recover.

The same thing happens in a social setting.

You’re working your mental, emotional, and even physical muscles (oh, those smiles!). So it’s normal for everyone, no matter if they’re an introvert or not, to get tired and need some time to rest.

1. Introverts tend to be social.

They are not hermits. Not all the time. They don’t just like to live at home and stay away from people, but they’re not always that way.

This is another myth about introverts. The same goes for introverts. They like to hang out with their friends and family. The difference, however, is that introverts are not motivated to obtain the reward of social attention.

Some studies say introverts don’t do well when they are the center of attention in a social setting. Because they don’t need it, nobody likes being the center of attention.

Extroverts, on the other hand, love getting attention from other people. It’s fun for them, and if they don’t understand it, they might think it was a bad way to get to know people.

These people enjoy being the center of attention at a party. They also feel very good when they get the attention they want. So there is a lot of good that comes from this.

They come in different shapes and sizes, and there are four types of introverts. Indeed, there is no longer a “you either are an introvert, or you are not.” Instead, think of extraversion and introversion as two sides of a scale.

Sometimes we can be more extroverted. Another time we can lean more toward the part of us that is quieter.

So, what are the four types of introversion, and what are they?

Those who are socially introverted

These people don’t want to be in social situations that they don’t need to be in or prefer to socialize in small groups. The reason this person likes to be alone or in small groups isn’t anxiety or shyness. A preference is the only reason this is the case, like how some people prefer apples to oranges. What do you think?

Intuitive People

This is a new way of doing things. It’s not hard to tell if someone is an “introvert” because they are very introspective, thoughtful, and self-reflective (not in a selfish way). Getting lost in their fantasy world, which is filled with creativity and imagination, is what they love the most about it.

Introverts are nervous.

Anxious introverts don’t want to be in groups because they feel uncomfortable or self-conscious. None of them is confident. This isn’t a fear that goes away when they are alone. Things that could go wrong or have gone wrong repeatedly when alone.

Impatience that is not too much

People who like to think about things before they do or say something are in this group. They also move at a much slower pace and can’t just get out of bed and start going. They need time to wake up and warm up before they can “start.”

It’s also true that introverts use a different part of their nervous system.

Introverts use the parasympathetic side of their nervous system when they are alone. People who are more outgoing use their sympathetic side to get people to like them.

Know how we talked about the four different types of introversion that we talked about?

More introverted people tend to use the parasympathetic side of their nervous system in places where they don’t want to be around others. This site likes to rest and think about things in the nervous system.

The sympathetic side is a full-on, “go, go, go” kind of area. Both sides don’t have to be better. It’s just how we see the world. In some parts of our lives, we live life at full speed. In other places, we are quieter.

Every person is unique and has a personality because of it.

2. Introverts and relationships with other people.

Do not believe people who say that introverts are like extroverts or that introverts can only be with other introverts and so on. These things are not true.

All of that isn’t true.

Then, they spend even more time trying to figure out who they should be with. Truthfully? The person you choose to be with should be the person you are with. It’s easy.

If you’re an introvert and in a relationship with an extrovert, know that this person will push you out of your comfort zone and make you socialize a lot more.

If you’re an extrovert, you’ll do more things and even get into more fights because they don’t like to stay out of trouble. But, if you want to get alone time and space in any part of your life, you’ll have to speak up. But, they will be a very good match for each other. Yin and Yang, right?

If you’re an introvert and you’re in a relationship with another introvert, you’ll likely have someone who knows how you feel without you having to tell them.

But it’s also possible that you wouldn’t do very much and wouldn’t try many things outside your comfort zone. Having too much personal freedom and space could make it hard to keep the relationship going.

There isn’t a clear winner here. Just what you want, and what you like. Apples and oranges are back in the same place again. When it comes to more introverted people, they need more time on their own.

Does it happen?

It has to do with how introverts use the nervous system part called the “parasympathetic” side.

Those who like to need alone more time to do that. Interestingly, everyone has these pleasure centers in their brains. For example, many people get dopamine in their brains when they eat chocolate or other foods they like.

It gives them a sense of well-being to be around people. These people feel good because they have a certain chemical in their bodies. Because they enjoy it. Dopamine makes an outgoing person feel happy.

Introverts also get excited when their body releases dopamine, but it comes with feeling completely overwhelmed, which takes away from the pleasure that extroverts enjoy.

3. Some things are different for introverts, though.

For example, they get a lot of pleasure from a chemical called acetylcholine, which makes them feel good.

Look inside, and you will start to feel this chemical coming out. It helps us think deeply, reflect, and focus very hard. Having the chemical released into their body makes them happy.

It makes them feel great. In the same way that an extrovert feels when they get a rush of dopamine.

Acetylcholine is a chemical that makes introverts feel happy.

4. Introverts can’t become extroverts, so they can’t change their ways.

If your child shows signs of being introverted, and you think you can do this or that to make them more outgoing, you can’t.

People who want to be more outgoing can do the same thing if they are introverted adults and want to become more outgoing for any reason. But, unfortunately, you can’t do that.

This is linked to the point above again. When you get pleasure from the chemical dopamine, or when you get pleasure from the chemical acetylcholine, it is in your DNA. Choose this, but not the color of your skin.

The thing you are born with. Introverts can always learn how to be more social, of course. Instead of becoming hermits all the time, they can learn to cope with things like social anxiety.

But they will always be introverts because acetylcholine will be the main thing that makes them happy and make them survive with their introversion.

Parents can tell their kids to be who they are instead and show them how to be nice to people. But, please, don’t make your child do something they can’t do because of their genes!

The fact that you are an introvert is not a bad thing. They’re great!

5.Introverts are warier. Take more risks that are well-thought-out

As long as you’re in a relationship with an introvert, don’t worry if you take a long time to reach relationship goals. We love and care about you.

As An Katrien Sodermans says, it’s probably because introverts tend to look very carefully before they make a move, which is why it’s likely that this is the case.

They don’t make life-changing decisions lightly, and they don’t do that very often. But, on the other hand, they don’t make quick or hasty decisions, which means they tend to make better decisions.

They think about things a million times before moving forward to ensure they take the least risk and get the most reward.

They are saying, “Hey, I’ve thought about this like…a bazillion times and you’re worth all the risk,” which makes you happy.

This is so sweet, isn’t it?!

This makes them very useful at work because they can give very detailed risk assessments and tell you which risks are worth taking and which aren’t.

That’s a big help in this day and age.
